Tommy Newberry

Tommy Newberry is a New York Times best seller, host of the “Achieving Optimal” podcast, CEO of “Tommy Newberry Coaching”, and author of the “4:8 Principal” and “Success is Not an Accident”. Tommy’s vantage point of success in life as a planned outcome and continual improving of ourselves is a wonderful way to approach our daily lives. Tommy is motivated by seeing others out perform their previous best selves and truly unlocking their potential.

Tommy discusses some of the ideals found in his book the 4:8 Principal, one of which is that we need to train our minds to find the positive instead of the negative. His advice to find positivity is to practice, plan, and prepare. One actionable tool is to ask yourselves questions that will promote a productive/positive way of thinking, instead of dwelling on the negative.

From there he discusses how to achieve success in all areas of our lives. The idea that it’s not about finding balance in your life but about setting goals and recognizing that there is a season in our life to achieve those goals. He encourages us to look for the windows of opportunity to pursue our various goals instead of attempting to achieve them all at one time. He challenges us to set 5 goals/priorities and to really focus on them by asking yourself “what is the wisest thing to invest my time in right now”.

Ultimately, Tommy challenges us to set huge, completely unrealistic goals that are meaningful to us and to then set a plan in place to accomplish them. He leaves us with the popular quote “We overestimate what we can do in a day and underestimate what we can do in a lifetime.”

Kathy Gruver

Today on the Mobius Podcast is Dr. Kathy Gruver. Kathy is a PHD, health practitioner, motivational speaker, trapeze artist, author, and hip hop dancer. Dr. Gruver’s motivation stems from letting people know they have options in how they live and wants to empower them to be able to change their mind, body, and ultimately their life.

Dr. Gruver begins by explaining what the mind-body phenomenon is and states that 60-90% of doctor visits today are actually due to stress related illness! Things such as headaches, fertility issues, IBS, and even some cancers are all linked to stress. This very reason is why Dr. Gruver has made it her mission to help others learn and develop tools to manage stress. Dr. Gruver really encourages everyone to find what works for them to manage their stress. This could be meditation, yoga, running, weight lifting, acupuncture, gardening, or in her case, flying trapeze classes!

The final piece of advice Dr. Gruver leaves us with is to remove the things that aren’t serving us and to do something different each day that pushes you out of your comfort zone. By simply going for it you are more likely to experience life in a way that reduces your stress and helps push you closer to being the person you’ve always wanted to become.

Lisa Cherry Beaumont

It was lovely talking with Lisa Cherry Beaumont today. Lisa is a life purpose coach and is the author of “Life Purpose Alchemy” (on Amazon). She is motivated by helping others find what makes them happy and feeling positive about what they do in their daily lives. We began the conversation by discussing how emotions are spread from one person to another. Whether positive or negative, emotions impact our daily lives so by becoming aware of our emotions and the emotions of those around us, we can choose how we want to live.

Lisa responds to the question of “how do you find your life purpose” by encouraging us to look at our life now and ask the following questions:

  1. What do you waste your time doing?
  2. What did you used to do that you no longer do?

She suggests that by taking small, daily steps, the scary emotions associated with change will not appear quite as monstrous and overwhelming.

Lisa’s final piece of advice is to gain perspective in your life and daily situations by occasionally taking a step back and then entering back into the situation with a new and refreshed mindset.

John Vespasian

I am so excited to have John Vespasian on the Mobius Podcast today! John is discussing the idea of rational living. The idea behind rational living is that one can come to a place where they are able to look at situations in their life through the lens of logic and reason instead of responding with panic and inefficiency. He encourages us that by applying rational thought to situations of crisis we will be able to be happier and more successful.

John proposes that our lives are based either on reality or on fiction. Many of our behaviors are based on media and fictional sources that appeal strongly to our emotions but are not actually true. He encourages us to look at the past and to history to see how successful people developed their talents. He suggests that we can work through our lives by trial and error, but by taking lessons from the past and applying them to our present and future, we will be able to skip out on many of life's unhappy moments as most quick fix solutions are simply illusions.

John leaves us with the idea that even if you are convinced of the truth, you are going to have to face people who don’t listen or understand. By respecting their ability to hold their own opinion you will find freedom. He challenges us to avoid conflict, violence, aggression and try to develop yourself instead of fighting with others.

Matt Powell

In this episode, I am talking with Matt Powell, guru of both human motion and human motivation. Matt begins today’s episode by talking about how showing someone their “lightbulb moment” is what motivates him to continue to work in his field.

Matt discusses, in depth, this idea of “pastless” and how by selectively accessing our past experiences we are able to create the present and future that we want. This idea of living in the present with a purpose is what he seeks to achieve in his life and in the lives of those around him.

The question of “how do we live in the present” is posed. Matt suggests that by looking back into our past experiences we are able to view our successes and failures in an objective way where we can then choose what we want to carry forward with us into the present, which then affects our future selves. By recognizing that we have to start living a different way instead of just thinking about being different and making change is how we will actually facilitate real transformation in our lives.

The idea of living intentionally is discussed as Matt brings his experiences with Martial Arts into the discussion as an example. He suggests that by making small, consistent changes and making short terms goals, these ideals will create long term lasting results; however, it all begins with making a commitment to change. Without this commitment, change will not happen.

Matt concludes the conversation by discussing how transformation is a long-term process, not a short-term fix. By having the right goals you can achieve anything you want in life.

Trish Blackwell

In this episode of the Mobius Podcast Trish Blackwell, fitness professional, confidence coach, entrepreneur, and more, starts by talking about the importance of living life at full capacity. Are you surviving or are you thriving and fully engaged in your daily life?

She then takes us through her personal journey of coming from a place of not being confident to truly coming into her own as a person and learning to be confident in herself. The secret, she says, is to always ask yourself “what brings me fulfillment”.

From there, she discusses the importance of the 80/20 rule and how she applies that as a way to bring in a little grey area to situations that are very much black or white.  With this rule comes the discussion of how to develop self love? Trish provides some amazing tools to improve self confidence, learn how to love yourself, and to help you prioritize your day to really fulfill all of your goals.

She leaves us with a fantastic quote “the body is capable of so much if you just allow yourself to thrive”.
